Lumina Gershfield Cordova
Marketing, Business Development & Client Services
Over the course of my 26 year career, I’ve worked as a professor and school teacher in the United States and Asia, Montessori, Yoga and Meditation teacher, and founder of a digital education company incubated at Harvard Innovation Labs. In 2021, I joined SMB Financial Strategies to help SMB increase capacity to serve more clients, assist with expansion to the new 1,600 square foot office in Burlington and learn about Financial Planning from Sarin.
Since joining SMB, the most rewarding part has been meeting the SMB community and talking about financial wellness every day, followed closely by learning from Sarin how to help clients organize their financial lives to reach important goals.
My approach to working at SMB is largely inspired by my experience as a teacher of students from every age, which you’ll find reflected in my focus on Behavioral Finance, Growth Mindset, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging.
My Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art is from Brigham Young University. My Master’s Degree in Education was earned at Portland State University in Portland, OR. I have a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Boston University, a Real Estate/Realtor license and a Certificate in Metaverse, NFT and Web3 from Everyrealm Academy.
I am married to my Cuban/Peruvian husband Rene and we have two beautiful children, our son, Georgio, age 10 and daughter, Shalom, age 8. We live in the heart of Somerville, MA, love to make art, dance to Latin music, play soccer and debate about whether our first pet will be a cat or a dog. Thus far, it’s two for cat and two for dog!
